“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again!” – Ezekiel 37:5 (NLT)
Ezekiel’s vision of the valley filled with dry bones establishes the scene of utter hopelessness and desolation.
The dry bones represented the people’s spiritually dead condition. Your church may seem like a heap of dry bones to you, spiritually dead with no hope of vitality. But just as God promised to restore His nation, He can restore any church, no matter how ‘dry’ or ‘dead’ it may appear.
Rather than give up, pray for renewal, for God can restore it to life. The hope and prayer of every church should be that God will put His Spirit into it – Ezekiel 37:14. In fact, God is at work calling His people back to Himself, bringing new life into ‘dead’ churches and ‘dead’ situations. God commanded Ezekiel to speak the words of life to the bones, leading to the appearance of sinews, flesh, and skin, culminating in them coming to life. Like him, today we can prophesy to dead situations in our lives and proclaim life.
When we connect to God’s vision, it leads to new spiritual realities. Even the seemingly ‘dead’ listeners, who were in a state of hopelessness due to sin, can become renewed. In moments that feel dry and lifeless, God’s Spirit can breathe new life into every situation. Trust in His power to restore, renew, and revive in your season of dry bones.
Prayer
Lord, breathe Your life into every area of our lives that feels dry or broken. Restore hope, strength, and purpose in Jesus’ name. Amen!
